Jeremy Long | Producer/Engineer

at The Rye Room | Portland, Oregon

QUICK INTRO

Hi, I’m Jeremy! I’m a music producer and studio engineer at The Rye Room in Portland, Oregon.

MISSION

As a producer, my mission is simple: Turn your songs into stunning recordings ready for release.

I strive to capture the uniqueness of each project with an ear for detail, never inserting my own ego above the artist’s vision. I also find it extremely important to keep the process FUN and stress free — the studio is a magical place where “crazy” ideas are encouraged.

STYLE

While I enjoy working in many different styles of music, I would say that my strengths are in the worlds of indie pop/rock and folk. I really enjoy fusing organic instrumentation (live drums/bass/guitars/etc) with programmed sounds (synth/drum beats/etc). Some bands that inspire me are Radiohead, Glass Animals, and Tame Impala. In the world of folk, I’m influenced by Elliott Smith and Sufjan Stevens.

A BIT MORE ABOUT MY BACKGROUND (if you’re interested)

In addition to producing other people’s projects, I have self-recorded several albums of original music under various monikers. My current passion project is called Shade Garden. I also play keyboard in a band called The Margos.

And lastly, I have 5+ years of experience teaching production, guitar, and theory at a private academy in S.E. Portland, making good use of my audio degree from Musicians Institute. (Or at least that’s what I tell myself.)

“Jeremy creates a safe place where recording artists can harmoniously create their art.  At an incredibly affordable, project-based rate it was an easy choice for all of the tracking, mixing, and mastering of my band’s first release.  From start to finish it was a smooth and positive process.  Jeremy finds a way of bringing great production ideas that fit the context of each song. I’ve come up with some of the best ideas and tones at UBC, all thanks to Jeremy!”  - Adam Black of Common Hours

“My experience with Jeremy was superior. He expressed that he hadn’t worked with Hip Hop artists a lot but he could’ve fooled me. Amazing quality from a person with an even more amazing personality! He saved my song by giving suggestions and working with me on things I could add or take out. I was able to finalize the song with him in a couple days after trying myself for 2 months. I couldn’t be happier with the results!” - Alexandra Washington from A’Revolution

“If you’re a shy little bug like me and the recording process feels like a whole other world, you’ll feel right at home with Jeremy.”

Jeremy is such a professional, and the cozy environment is meant for magic to happen. I recorded a live tune and the quality of sound blew me away. Definitely recommend this place to all your musician amigos! 🤘🏼- Letty Isabel (Singer-Songwriter)

“Jeremy is a great guy to work with. Super positive. Open to trying whatever ideas you might come up with. And he has great ideas, too, if that's what you want.” - Grant Warrens (Singer-Songwriter)

“Had a couple sessions here, and it's a comfortable environment to record. The room sounds great with everything I've recorded, and Jeremy is a professional. Looking forward to another session.” - Cheyne Quinn (Producer/Engineer for hip-hop artist Ms. Elle)

"Jeremy Long is amazing!!! He is well skilled, professional and was trained by one of Portland's best. Jeremy is also very friendly and nice. I am glad I got to meet him and work with him." - Nicole Payne (Vocalist)

"While working with Jeremy I was impressed every step of the way. When I first contacted him he took the time to listen to some of my past recordings and listen to the ideas I had for the project while I was still brainstorming a bit. The recording process was both relaxed and professional; comfortable but still with the aim of creating a quality recording. The first mix was done in the amount of time specified and was very well done. I’m pretty picky about how things sound but we still managed to get the track where I wanted it after three mixes and it sounds fantastic! Truly professional quality at an affordable rate, highly recommended!" - Avery LeVine (Singer-Songwriter)

"Just wanted to say that I had a very positive experience with recording at UBC. Jeremy is very nice to work with and the whole process was fun. He also did a few mixes for me, and was committed to making sure I was happy with the end results. Looking forward to working with them again in the future!" - James Haller (Singer-Songwriter)

“Jeremy is a knowledgeable musician / engineer. Easy to work with.” - Trevor Scott (Music Producer)

“Simply amazing and talented person all around! Great ear for music and will help you take your music to the next level and beyond. He can record, play guitar and piano, mix, master, and produce. Look no further got excellent and quality service.” - Grace Holmes (Singer-Songwriter)

"Jeremy is not only a qualified individual, but an intuitive engineer. The recording process is completely dependent on that coalescence between the artist and engineer. This session was a favorite of mine simply for the inviting atmosphere, crisp sound, thoughtful feedback, and promptness. Truly a pleasure to have this opportunity to work with such a talented individual." - Bear (Rapper)

In addition to producing my own projects, I am happy to serve as a house engineer at THE RYE ROOM — one of Portland’s premiere recording facilities.
